1. Tag-in-terrasser: SAMFUNDAASEJLINGER (Prolog: samfundet og dets borgere).
Arrangementet ”Samfundsspejlinger” tog fat om terrassen som et socialt møderum med Dialog-Kaffe og Etno Summit.
Kofoeds Skole’s elever er primært ledige på kontanthjælp, førtidspension, dagpenge, sygedagpenge og overgangsydelse. Mange af eleverne er sårbare mennesker, der ikke har fundet deres ståsted i livet endnu. Dertil kommer at skolen har elever som har oprindelse i andre lande og kontinenter, hvilket gav os inspiration til at lave arrangementer på tværs af status, etnicitet, alder og køn.
Det er velkendt at samfundets hjælp til socialt udsatte nedprioriteres, og at der sættes ensidig fokus på gruppen af velfungerende unge og ældre. Men der kan være ganske kort vej fra at være velfungerende til at stå overfor en økonomisk, karrieremæssig eller social deroute, hvilket de færreste tænker over, så længe det går godt.
Installation
I psykologien har man begrebet Projektion, som er den mekanisme der sættes i spil, når man ubevidst tillægger andre nogle af de egenskaber, som man selv har, og som man ikke vil kendes ved. I psykoanalysen opstiller man en tommelfingerregel, der siger at 90 procent af de dårlige egenskaber man knytter til en anden person, reelt hører til ens egen skyggeside eller ubevidste psyke. Altså en spejling.
På terrassen blev der skabt en visuel kontakt mellem gadeplanet på Toldbodgade og tagterrassen på Kofoeds Skole. Ved hjælp af opsatte spejle, fanges brudstykker af bevægelser på terrassen og brudstykker af bevægelser på gadeplan – det vil sige en visualisering af bevægelse i vort samfund.

Tanken var derfor at vende spejlet og lade de udsatte borgere være ambassadører for sig selv, mens de såkaldt velfungerende gæster fik lytterrollen. Kofoeds Skoles tagterrasse og køkken blev derfor brugt som skolens eget fortællerum, hvor grupper af såkaldt velfungerende borgere, kunne møde skolens elever i øjenhøjde.

Dialog-kaffe bestod af en rundvisning på Kofoeds skole og en efterfølgende snak over en kop kaffe og et stykke kage på tagterrassen.
Det er blevet til 7 rundvisninger på skolen, hvor 35 Flamske ex-politikere, folk fra alkoholrådgivningen, en gruppe kristen og borgere i al almindelighed blevet vist rundt på skolen af to elever, der hudløst ærligt fortalte om livet på skolen og livet på kanten af samfundet. Projektet har ført til at eleverne har fået lyst og mod til selv at fortsætte med lignende tiltag.

Når elever af anden etnisk oprindelse end dansk står i en position, hvor de samtidig er socialt udsatte vil de være dobbelt eksponeret - dels på grund af anden etnicitet og dels på grund af lavere status blandt deres egne. Men når disse mennesker bliver vist tillid og får en ligeværdig rolle og et ansvar – så udviskes grænserne og forskellene, og selvværet styrkes markant. Det var hvad der skete for nogle af de elever, der tog i mod tilbuddet om at være med og byde ind med idéer til Etno Summit.
Vi lavede fire Etno Summit eftermiddage/aftener – grønlandsk, asiatisk, afrikansk, mellemøstlig/arabisk. Et Summit er betegnelsen for et officielt møde mellem to eller flere statsoverhoveder eller regeringschefer. På Kofoeds skoles Etno Summits blev der bygget kulturbro mellem flere nationaliteter, gamle og unge, folk fra skolen og gæster udefra.

The "Society Reflections" event took place on the terrace as a social meeting room with Dialogue Coffee and Etno Summit.
Kofoed School's students are primarily unemployed on cash benefits, early retirement, unemployment benefits, sickness benefits and transitional benefits. Many of the students are vulnerable people who have not yet found their place in life. In addition, the school has students originating in other countries and continents, which gave us inspiration to make arrangements across status, ethnicity, age and gender.
It is well-known that assistance to socially disadvantaged is downgraded and that a one-sided focus is placed on the group of well-functioning people. But there can be a quite short way from being well-functioning to face an economic, or social deroute, which only few think about as long as it goes well.
Installation
In psychology we have the concept of Projection, which is the mechanism that is put into play when you unconsciously assign to others some of the qualities that you own and which you do not want to know. In the psycho analysis, a rule of thumb states that 90 percent of the bad qualities associated with another person really belong to one's own shadow side or unconscious mind. That's like a mirror.
On the terrace a visual contact was established between the street floor at Toldbodgade and the roof terrace at Kofoede' school. With the help of mirrors, fragments of from the terrace as well as fragments of from street-level movements are captured - that is, a visualization of movement in our society.
The installation was designed by Ida Marie Lebech in collaboration with Smith Anders Thaysen.
Arrangments
The best to convey the socially vulnerable needs and problems are themselves. The idea was therefore to turn the mirror and let vulnerable citizens be ambassadors for themselves while the so-called well-functioning guests got the listener role. Kofoeds School's roof terrace and kitchen were therefore used as the school's own storytelling room, where groups of so-called well-functioning citizens could meet the school's students at eye level.
Dialog-Coffée
Dialog coffee consisted of a guided tour to Kofoed School's workshops and a subsequent talk over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake on the roof terrace. There have been 7 tours at the school, where 35 Flemish ex-politicians, people from alcohol counseling, a group of Christians and citizens have generally been shown around the school by students who honestly told about life at school and life on the edge of society. The project has led to the students wisch to continue with similar measures.
Etno Summit
When students of other ethnic origin than Danish are in a position where they are vulnerable or unemployed at the same time they will be double-threatened - partly because of ethnicity and partly because of lower status among their own. But when these people are invited to equally contribute in the development of projects, the boundaries and differences are wiped out, and their faith in themselves is significantly strengthened. That's what happened to some of the students who offered to join.
We made four Etno Summit afternoons / evenings - Greenlandic, Asian, African, Middle Eastern / Arabic. A Summit is the term of an official meeting between two or more Heads of State or Government. At our Etno Summits a culture bridge was built between several nationalities, old and young people, people from school and outside guests.
The projects were created by the school's students with support from the school's management, Association Hidden Places and in collaboration with D-Funk and the Fireplace / The Vegetable Kitchen at the Institute of (X), Aarhus.

There are big differences between the Arab and Middle Eastern traditions, but what do they have in common and what do the Danes have in common with them. Food, music, dance and board games can gather people so why not do it a little more. It works.

Installation
In psychology we have the concept of Projection, which is the mechanism that is put into play when you unconsciously assign to others some of the qualities that you own and which you do not want to know. In the psycho analysis, a rule of thumb states that 90 percent of the bad qualities associated with another person really belong to one's own shadow side or unconscious mind. That's like a mirror.
On the terrace a visual contact was established between the street floor at Toldbodgade and the roof terrace at Kofoede' school. With the help of mirrors, fragments of from the terrace as well as fragments of from street-level movements are captured - that is, a visualization of movement in our society.
The installation was designed by Ida Marie Lebech in collaboration with Smith Anders Thaysen.
Arrangments
The best to convey the socially vulnerable needs and problems are themselves. The idea was therefore to turn the mirror and let vulnerable citizens be ambassadors for themselves while the so-called well-functioning guests got the listener role. Kofoeds School's roof terrace and kitchen were therefore used as the school's own storytelling room, where groups of so-called well-functioning citizens could meet the school's students at eye level.
Dialog-Coffée
Dialog coffee consisted of a guided tour to Kofoed School's workshops and a subsequent talk over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake on the roof terrace. There have been 7 tours at the school, where 35 Flemish ex-politicians, people from alcohol counseling, a group of Christians and citizens have generally been shown around the school by students who honestly told about life at school and life on the edge of society. The project has led to the students wisch to continue with similar measures.
Etno Summit
When students of other ethnic origin than Danish are in a position where they are vulnerable or unemployed at the same time they will be double-threatened - partly because of ethnicity and partly because of lower status among their own. But when these people are invited to equally contribute in the development of projects, the boundaries and differences are wiped out, and their faith in themselves is significantly strengthened. That's what happened to some of the students who offered to join.
We made four Etno Summit afternoons / evenings - Greenlandic, Asian, African, Middle Eastern / Arabic. A Summit is the term of an official meeting between two or more Heads of State or Government. At our Etno Summits a culture bridge was built between several nationalities, old and young people, people from school and outside guests.
The projects were created by the school's students with support from the school's management, Association Hidden Places and in collaboration with D-Funk and the Fireplace / The Vegetable Kitchen at the Institute of (X), Aarhus.
The project was successful beyond the usual - for the simple reason that it was very intimate and close, which forced people together at the dining tables.
Kofoed School's students are primarily unemployed on cash benefits, early retirement, unemployment benefits, sickness benefits and transitional benefits. Many of the students are vulnerable people who have not yet found their place in life. In addition, the school has students originating in other countries and continents, which gave us inspiration to make arrangements across status, ethnicity, age and gender.
